• Welcome to my blog!

Hello, I'm a Vancouver, BC based photographer who loves shooting weddings, portraits, events, and more... please check out my portfolio galleries for a glimpse of my work!

A wedding photographer has an awesome responsibility. There is only one opportunity to get the shots of those moments. I am honored each time a couple puts their faith in me to deliver beautiful images.

I love working for couples who agree that getting the photography right on their wedding day is of utmost importance. After all, when it's all said and done, all that will remain of the flowers, decorations, cake... and just about everything else from that day will be the images of them that I have documented. They better be great!

I am normally a man of few words (ironically, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Communications), and perhaps that's why I have gravitated to photography as a career - a picture is worth a thousand words, so I like to just let my images do the talking.

Old World Craftsmanship

Just starting a new album for one of my couples this morning. I decided to check my album supplier’s website to see if they perhaps had an upgraded version of their software. I saw they have some nice videos posted about their company. Actually made me feel good that I use them to deliver the quality books that I do! Have a look…

Family Birthday – Vancouver Event Photographer

This past weekend, my cousin’s youngest daughter celebrated her 1st birthday. The kids LOVED it, as my cousin pulled out all the stops. Real pony rides in the front yard, and smores in the backyard. I think all the other parents have been served notice… birthday parties have now been taken to the next level!

Moving Pictures

A videographer was kind enough to give me a bunch of footage of myself working a wedding. I’ve thought about doing a little promo type video for myself, but that hasn’t quite happened yet. For now, I took some of the video and spliced in the photos I was taking at those moments. I just wanted to create something as a start… this is 26 seconds of action!

Self Value – Vancouver Photographer

A while ago I delivered images to a client for whom I’ve shot four times over the last couple of years. This time around, he gave me a copy of his latest book “DON’T READ THIS… Unless You Want More Money!” Dõv Baron is a very interesting guy. He’s all about “mind mastery”, the Law of Attraction, quantum physics, and the like. If you’ve heard of “The Secret“, you know what I’m talking about.

The book, “DON’T READ THIS…” is about how to gain all you deserve in life. It’s a guide on breaking through your own fears and doubts and seeing and believing in your own “self value”. The key of which is realizing that that value should not (in fact cannot) be affected by external opinion, if your mind is strong enough.

Dõv does a great demonstration of this principle. He takes a $100 bill and hurls insults at it, crumples it up in his hand, throws it onto the ground and stomps on it in disgust. Then he asks the question “How much is it worth now?”. Of course, it is still worth $100. If you really know your self value, it doesn’t matter what anyone else might think.

The Power of a simple Photo

A few days ago I wanted to play with some software that applies various borders and effects to photographs. I thought I’d just snap a quick photo of a random object in my office and use that, so I grabbed an old memory card off my desk, and as I do before I use a card, I checked to see what was on it before I re-formatted to use again. I saw some photos that I had shot almost 2 years ago and never downloaded. Those shots themselves were some test shots that I had done where I asked a friend who was visiting to just act as my subject. Well, I thought, why not just use one of these!?

I’ve known my friend, Tvrtko (whose parents could have bought an extra vowel or two for his name), ever since I was a kid. When I graduated from high school, I joined his band and we played music together in various configurations (from duet all the way to 6 piece bands) for a full 20 years…. mostly we played weddings, so besides photography, I’ve also been to hundreds more weddings as a musican.

Anyway, back to my story… I played with this software and then posted the image up on Facebook, just for fun. It never get tired of how much a simple photograph can affect people. So many people who know Tvrtko commented and “liked” the photo. Tvrtko ended up calling me on the phone and we had a chuckle about the photo, and about years gone by. He told me a friend of his in Los Angeles saw the image and called him on the phone too. They hadn’t corresponded in a while, and it was the photo that inspired him to just pick up the phone. I think that’s pretty powerful (and wonderful).
